We then had a worksheet which had instructions for us to follow on how to colour the ordinal numbers.
Today in our maths we have been learning about Ordinal numbers. Some of us were given a whiteboard with an ordinal number written on. We then had to work together to put ourselves in the correct order. We then had a worksheet which had instructions for us to follow on how to colour the ordinal numbers.

This morning in our maths we built a tower of 5 different multilink cubes. We then used the vocabulary first, second, third, forth and fifth to write down on post-it notes and stick in the correct order.
Great work Year 1! In our Art lesson this afternoon, we drew our self portraits. We used mirrors to look at our reflection and make sure we were drawing what we saw before thinking carefully about the colours we chose to colour in.
Mrs Tubby was super impressed with our portraits.....and thinks we have some artists in the making in Year 1! This morning in our maths we have been learning more about 'More than' and 'Less than' and we learnt that 'the crocodile always eats the bigger number'.
As a class we had a go at comparing numbers on the board using the more than and less than symbols before having a go ourselves. We compared numbers using multilink towers and the symbols. Mrs Tubby was super impressed and we earned 2 more marbles towards our class treat! This morning in our maths we have been look at more and less than 10. We each had an envelope which contained number cards to 20 in. We had to close our eyes, pick a number from the envelope and then decide if the number we had picked was more than or less than 10 and write it in the correct box.
We particularly liked closing our eyes and picking a number....and the excitement to see which number we had picked! Super more than and less than work Year 1! This afternoon, we had our first lesson of Computing. We discussed what we thought the word 'technology' meant and thought of so many different things in our lives that need a form of technology to work.....and just look at our huge list, we could of kept on going and going! Super ideas Year 1!
Our first few days in Year 1 have been full of fun and some fantastic learning.
We have been busy with our Phonics, English and Maths, take a look.... Recognising wild and garden plantsYear one have already learnt about the different plants and getting to know the main characteristics.
This Summer term the children have been looking to see what is growing in the Wildwood; identify different leave types, learning their different names. And when a weed is a weed. Below I have attached one of the websites that we have been using: Wild and garden plants - BBC Bitesize Reviewing Our Work
The children were asked to review their work on their flip books and to discuss and write about how they produced them and what happened. Next Step: What could they do differently? |
