Wow what an amazing sports day we had! The children showed excellent sportsmanship and skills in a range of activities including; hurdles, water relay race, throwing and long jump. Excellent use of these learning gems:
Great use of these learning gems:
Today we built clocks to aid our understanding of telling the time to five minute intervals. The children found this quite tricky- there is so much to remember! But they showed excellent perseverance. We will continue looking at the topic of time next week. ⏰⌚️ Today we focusing on finding on half of numbers ☺️. The children used cubes to help them build arrays to solve the problems. Great work Year 2.
Well done to our learning gem winners! 🤩 These children showed excellent creativity, independence, concentration, cooperation, perseverance, reflective skills or were adventurous. We also had a reading raffle for those who had read over the Easter holidays and a maths raffle for those who consistently complete their maths homework.
Who will win next term? 😄 ![]() Here are a few photos of our amazing work all about Florence Nightingale and hospitals. 🤩 It was wonderful to see all the beautiful art work and creative writing displayed together. The class were so proud to show off their work to their families 🥰. Well done Nightingale Class! Today in Science we began our lesson with a game of Articulate! The children loved trying to describe and guess one of our key vocabulary words linked to materials and their properties. We then discussed the invention of the tyre by Dunlop. After that, we completed an experiment exploring how far a ball would bounce off a wall when rolled down the ramp. We had to ensure we kept the ramp the same height to keep the experiment fair.
Well done Year 2!
In Science we continued to explore the suitability of materials for different purposes. We designed sleeping bags for Humpty Dumpty. The children could choose from a range of materials. They had to first predict which material would be the most suitable and why. The children then tested our sleeping bags with Humpty Dumpty inside. We discussed the need for a control group (egg with no sleeping bag). We also ensured we dropped the eggs from a consistent height so used the picnic table as a guide.
Well done Year 2 great use of the learning gems:
