After learning about the legend of St David, the red dragon, leeks and lots of welsh customs to celebrate St Davids Day we finished off by making our own daffodil in any way we wanted.
Whether at home or in school, the children all managed to get outside and have some fresh air for their well-being and enjoy the sun.
Amazing! We can't leave our homes and yet here we are creating passports for unicorns and flying horses. these are the passports that match the creatures we designed previously.
In STEM we looked at the life and work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, after researching him and 'wowing' at all his amazing structures we had the task of building our own structure using only paper. It had to be strong enough to hold a piece of fruit.
In Literacy we are creating a new species of unicorn or flying horse, we have been designing them before we start to complete fact files on them.
In Science the children had to make 2 types of paper boat and then see which was the best at moving across the water. It was hard to make it a fair test, but we wanted to use the same equipment as the children at home had to use.
To celebrate starting our new class reader we decided to create our own idea of what the book cover might look like as a model.
The Railway Children by E. Nesbit Here is a collection of the books we are reading at home in our class at the moment!
Some firm favourites and others new and interesting stories. In STEM we have been building our own bionic hands, this links to our work on Space and Space Exploration. It also links to the character Arthur in our Guided reading book, Brightstorm: A Sky-Ship Adventure.
The children have enjoyed using their different skills within Maths and Science and Engineering to create these- almost finished now - nearly ready to be put to the test! |
