As a school we had a Book Swap and Teacher Swap. In class we focused on illustrating our fantastic books which we have been making to retell the animated story Broken - the story of Rock, Paper and Scissors.

We have been working hard, to apply the skills learnt and the knowledge acquired from studying different artists, to create a colourful wall hanging. We are very pleased with the results. Artist StudyDIP DYING THE FABRICMaking A PrototypeOur Finished Wall HangingsToday saw the third group of six children perform their poems to the rest of the class. In Mandela Class we are lucky enough to have Mr Harvey work with us to help a different group (each half term) to learn a poem off by heart and recite it to the rest of the class. This is a skill, which is not only part of the Year 6 expectations for reading, but is also a life skill which prepares the children for High School and beyond. It always amazes me how all different types of children respond to the task and the change which occurs in their confidence and ability in just 6 weeks. They all performed really well. Well done everyone!
After writing, editing and rehearsing our persuasive advert scripts, today we filed them using the green screen and all we need to do now is add the background. Watch this space for the finished adverts! We had a great team for the swimming gala and all the adults agreed that we were great sports and were a credit to TSM!
Using our perspective design skills we designed and made our own press prints and created some lovely press print pictures! Since October we have been running a mystery book club where Mrs Matthews has been selecting books from our class library and wrapping them up for us to read - including some of the parents! These are last 6 books as now, as everyone has had a book from Mrs M and they are being wrapped up and passed along. It has been a great way to share recommended books and our love of reading! From this we have been building our own Bookflix recommendation area to help us select our next book! Look out for it in our classroom!
Each day Mrs Matthews chooses some artists of the day. We are very proud of our finished work! |
