Today across the globe, children from all over the world have been involved with Safer Internet Day. At Trimley St Martin throughout the week each class has been discovering how to be SAFE ONLINE.
In assembly we listened to "Troll Stinks" This is a really great book to read with your children to introduce them to the idea of internet safety. It is about a goat named Billy who finds a phone and rather than tell his parents about it, he gets up to mischief with his friend Cyril. They decide to send horrid messages to the troll who lives under the bridge. They then decide to find the troll to take a photo of her to put on the internet to show everyone how ugly she is. But when they get there, they find her crying because of the horrible texts she has received. Billy and Cyril realise the error of their ways and make friends with the troll. In class we have read "Chicken Clicking" One night Chick hops into the farmer's house and has a little browse on his computer. Soon she's bought a funny teapot, a frilly blouse, scooters for the sheep, and a car for the cows. She just can't stop clicking. She meets a friend online and off she goes to meet him (without telling her parents). But the friend she thought she'd met turns out to be a fox Information for parents ![]()
Thanks to Oscar and James for sharing and explaining your challenge in maths. Mrs Matthews and
Mrs MacFarlane were super impressed how quickly you were able to complete the challenge, I was super proud how you both were able to explain the exact process of finding the answers. I think I need to take up Sudoku. Who knew some problems can never be solved!! Spring Term

Personal Challenge is a student driven/self-led opportunity to attempt and improve performance – this can be informal, physically active challenges both at school and beyond the school day. Get Going, Get Active is a programme that has been designed using the digital platform TopYA to encourage students to engage in personal challenges that are uploaded each month. This gives young people not engaged through traditional sporting competition the opportunity to challenge themselves. With each challenge that a young person completes, they will receive an entry for a monthly prize draw where they could win prizes such as Beats by Dr Dre headphones up until August 2018. With over 1000 players already signed up this year, young people can also get involved by joining the contest directly via the TopYa app. HOW IT WORKS: Get active and win prizes by completing Skills and competing in Freestyle Challenges. For every video you submit, you get points and climb the leaderboard. With each challenge that you complete, you'll receive an entry for our monthly prize draw. There are three challenges available every month which means, if you complete all three, you have three chances to win. Its that easy, and who knows, the next winner could be you! On Friday the young oak trees were removed from school and taken to the farm, today we planted them. Mrs Matthews even found pictures from when the oak trees were planted at school back in 2007. Some years ago as part of the Woodland Trust, the school planted some oak tree saplings at the back of the school. These saplings are now on their way to becoming young oak trees. Today Richard Adams from
P Adams & Sons Farm in Falkenham came along with a colleague to carefully dig up our trees to replant them at the farm. On Monday morning some of our Year 6 children will be going to the farm to assist. |
