Congratulations, Mr Barnard for completing the Great East Run on Sunday. Staff and children of TSM are very proud and thankful that you ran in the name of Trimley St Martin School.
Mr Barnard or Miss Todd in the office will gratefully receive sponsor money. We will shortly let you know how much was raised. Again well done and thank you Mr Barnard! A huge well done to all the children for their continued enthusiasm in school sport and Mr Childs who has worked extremely hard to hit all the criteria needed to achieve this award.
A very busy week for children and teachers. This has been a very busy and important week in the school's monitoring cycle. Teachers had their professional development meetings, where targets were set to make improvements in teaching & progress and then had class observations to make sure that teaching continues to improve. Year 3 and 4 children had two visits as both their teachers were observed. During these observations there was an opportunity to see new teaching strategies for Spag & guided reading, which through recent training has a new and exciting dynamism across the school. Listen out for children talking about Preston Preposition, Frankie Full Stop and many more lively characters. Do you know the difference between a concrete noun and a proper noun? Children in Year 2 do. Punctuation doctors in Year 3 fixing sentences. Reporters in Year 4, remembering to to use the 5Ws. What, Where, Why, Who and What happened. Year 5 adding adjectives to make writing more exciting. Whole class guided reading in Year 6.
When asked about this new way of guided reading the answers were surprising... " I used to get in a pickle with the old way of reading as too many different groups and too much to do, just confusing" " I definitely don't miss the independent study" " We can all talk about the same book and know what we are talking about" Children from TSM and 1st Kirton Cubs spent their day down at Trimley Shores taking part in Beachwatch litter picking. Hard work and fun- Well done.
