The children came into the classroom this morning to find a very cheeky Jingle, sitting on the sofa with the register, and a 'helper of the day' sticker stuck to him!

Today, the children came into the classroom, and had a little trouble trying to find where Jingle the Elf was hiding! After a little while, one of the children spotted him......in our raffle ticket jar! He had even written himself 2 raffle tickets!
Where will he be hiding tomorrow?!....... We are having our class Christmas party on Tuesday 18th December in the afternoon. There is party food list up on the door the children out of at the end of the day. We would be very grateful if you could sign up.
The children may bring in 'party clothes' to change into after lunchtime on the day. Many thanks Today, when the children came into the classroom, hung their belongings up and then went to put their name on the lunch board, they found that their names were not there!........Jingle the Elf had been up to his tricks again and had moved them! He had stuck them to the whiteboard!
What will he do tomorrow... This afternoon, we received an email from Santa asking for our help. His sleigh had been broken and his Elves were too busy making toys for Christmas to make him another one....so he turned to us!
In small groups, we worked together to write back to Santa, telling him that we could help him, and gave some clues about what his new sleigh would be made out of, and some possible new design features! Everyone worked really hard.....and our next step will be to send him our new sleigh designs. This morning when the children came into the classroom, they found that Jingle the Elf had made rather a mess! Over night, he had got the flour out of the kitchen cupboard and used it to make a 'Snow Angel' on the table. We had to clear it all up before we could start our handwriting!
We are wondering what mischief he will get up to tomorrow!.... So, this morning, just after we had finished the register, a VERY excited Mrs Rushbrooke came back from the office, and came running into the classroom (tut tut) with a special parcel for us all.
Inside a large envelope, which had all our names on, was a letter, a book and a very smart and special Elf. We read the letter......and the Elf has been sent from Santa, to help him make sure the children are doing good things in the lead up to Christmas. It sounds like our Elf may well be a little bit cheeky, as the book said each day he will be hiding in a different place! Our first task given to us from Santa was to give our Elf a name, so we all had a think, wrote down our ideas and had a vote. So our special Elf's name is......JINGLE! Be sure to check the blog each day to see what he gets up to!.... In our Maths lesson this morning, we were learning about length. Using Multilink cubes, we measured a bbok, a ruler and a tool box which we found out were all 15 cubes long. We then measured Rosa's shoe which was 9 cubes long and Leo's shoe which was just a little longer at 10 cubes long.
We then measured ourselves! We had 2 volunteers who had to lay down on the carpet whilst we measured how long (tall) they were. One of us measured 52 cubes long, and one of us measured 58 cubes long.....but can you guess which child measured which?!.... We will be sending Homework home with the children on Thursday (29/11/18) in a blue folder. At this stage, the homework will focus on phonics, and may move onto Maths work later on. The children will also be given a 'sound fan' which they will need to use to complete their homework. Please could you work through the sheet with your child, and provide support where needed. We also ask that you write a few words at the bottom of the page to let us know how your child got on.
Homework will be given out on a Friday, and needs to be completed and returned by the following Thursday. Many thanks for your support. As the KS1 Christmas production is of course getting closer and closer, and rehearsals are now in full swing, we would now like to ask that any remaining costumes are sent in with the your child(ren) as soon as possible.
Many thanks, The KS1 team. |
