ON THE 15 JUNE 2015 WE ARE GOING TO THORPEWOODLANDS AND WE HAVE SIGNED UP FOR IT!! (YEY) WE ARE REALLY EXCITED AND ARE GOING TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN. THERES GOING TO BE SO MUCH TO DO AND LOTS TO SEE MOST PEOPLE IN ARE CLASS ARE GOING AND ITS ARE FIRST TIME GOING AS A CLASS WE ARE SO LUCKY!!!
This is the final products. We were quite proud of what we achieved. We had lots of fun producing our craft products for Our Christmas Enterprise. Barlow this week have had an Anglo-Saxon day featuring an Anglo-Saxon life style ( dressing up as Anglo-Saxons. During the day we had a traditional Anglo-Saxon feast. We ate in our Great hall where we played music and voted Edgwick as our new Thane. The feast comprised off Wheat bread , plums, berries, meats and for drink apple and raspberry juice . After the feast we wrote a recount about our experiences as an Anglo-Saxons. My recount was the best writing I have ever written. It made my rally proud to write a good piece of work. Being an Anglo-Saxon fo
This week saw Barlow class go to a forensic workshop at Felixstowe Academy on Tuesday morning where they completed a science workshops to solve a crime !!!! We had a great morning and tried out the new super lab !!!!!! After carrying out three different workshops about unknown powers, ink analysis and finger prints the crime was solved !!! Mathematics was very challenging this week and we have learnt to find common multiples and factors and use this knowledge to complete Venn Diagrams and sort the information into Carroll Diagrams. Then on Thursday we had lots of fun running around learning new games and testing our fitness and energy levels. We have had a brilliant week in Barlow!!!!!!! In science we have started a new topic all about materials. we did a really fun experiment with ice cubes. We coated each ice cube with a different type of foam. We made types of foam from egg white., whipping cream and marshmallows. We predicted which foam would be the best insulator. We discovered that egg is the best insulator and marshmallows let our cubes melt when we placed them in the oven. This week has begun with a topic based week in mathematics. The children have used and applied mathematical skills to solve real life problems. They used methods to code crack and plot findings following co-ordinates. They drew Carroll Diagrams to help sort properties and worked out fractions of amounts. All children can now read place value of numbers up to a 9 digit number and work with those numbers to problem solve.
In Literacy we are developing our story writing skills. We have written excellent descriptions of characters including dragons extending our use of descriptive language of appearance and adverbs and powerful verbs to describe movement. The challenge of how character's interact and how they would describe each other is the next challenge. Science is really exciting with experiments about materials and how they can be used to insulate ice cream we put in the fridge maybe baked Alaska will be on the menu !!!!!!! History continues to teach us all about The Anglo-Saxons. We have made our own timeline on History In Britain now displayed in our classroom !!! This is to help us understand and place the Anglo-Saxons at the right place within history. |
