Today in Art we have been looking at Henry Moore's famous sculptures 'Reclining Figures'. We had a go at drawing Miss Davey who posed for us using the abstract style. We then had a go at drawing our friends posing for us. Here are some of the results in our sketchbooks:

In Science we are looking at Classifying Critters. We have been investigating branching keys, looking at ways of sorting animals into different categories. It can be quite tricky! We started off by classifying ourselves in the hall and then we had a go at classifying different animals in groups of 3. Thinking about different characteristics and using yes and no questions. Good use of the learning gem:We had a go at drawing some of our own historically accurate Longships and thought about how the design contributed to the Vikings success in raids. Some of the drawings were very impressive! GOOD USE OF THE LEARNING GEM:In history we are learning about the Vikings. We started the topic by working together to create our own longships. GOOD USE OF THESE LEARNING GEMS:Hopefully you are all looking forward to working together.... Any ideas what our Guided Reading book is about this term?
Goodbye Mandela Class 2017 -2018. We will miss you! Today saw the last six children perform their poems to the rest of the class. In Mandela Class we are lucky enough to have Mr Harvey work with us to help a different group (each half term) to learn a poem off by heart and recite it to the rest of the class. This is a skill, which is not only part of the Year 6 expectations for reading, but is also a life skill which prepares the children for High School and beyond. It always amazes me how all different types of children respond to the task and the change which occurs in their confidence and ability in just 6 weeks. Well done to the last group who will also be performing a poem for the Leaver's Assembly.
Well done to all the 7 children who have achieved this term's Learning Gem Awards.
It was so difficult to choose as we have all worked so hard on the Learning Gems this term! A great day at the Suffolk Show Games. Our squad came 5th out of 17. Which means that we are the 5th best primary school for swimming in the whole of Suffolk! Well done a great day!! |
