Area Sports on Thursday was great. We took around 50 children from Y6, Y5, Y4 and Y3. All the children were in good spirits (despite walking all the way to Trimley St Mary School). Everyone performed well on the day and as a result we came 2nd! Very impressive!

This is a message from Felixstowe Academy:
Here are the lists of children and the groups they will be in during the induction day at Felixstowe Academy. On Monday they must remember this number as it will help them to know exactly where they need to go. With over 200 pupils arriving on Monday this will make the initial part of the day much easier. We have tried to ensure every pupil has at least 1 friend. Unfortunately the email reached us too late so we were unable to pass on the message. Sorry! Group 1 (Mr Avery) Sarah, Lucy and Greta Group 2 (Mr Jones) Leo, Ben, Fin and Kieran Group 4 (Mrs Phillips) Isabelle and Ellie M Group 5 (Mrs Dulieu) Elsa and Ellie V Group 6 (Mr Samant) Morgan, Connor and Owen Mandela had a great day today....It was Sports Day! In the morning Year 6 helped the Key Stage One children with their sports events. Organising the events, helping the children and cheering them on. A fantastic morning, with Y6 working hard to be good role models. The younger children all had lots of fun! Blue Cool Cats won for Key Stage One, with Yellow Dragons coming second. In the afternoon, after a family picnic lunch, it was the Key Stage Two Sports Day. Each year group took part in 4 events: hurdles, long jump, long distance race and throwing. We then had running races on the track. Once again we saw some fantastic sportmanship from all who took part, cheering each other on and celebrating each other's achievements. Yellow Dragons won for Key Stage Two, with Blue Cool Cats coming in a close second. Overall a fantastic day!!!!
Mandela class really enjoyed the fitness circuit run by Kola and Nathan who are both international triple jump athletes. Afterwards we had the chance to meet them, hear about their training (and have a go ourselves) and ask them questions. It was inspiring to listen to their stories and hear about their ongoing journey to success. We are looking forward to having a go at the long jump during Sports Day (next week) and hope to see them in the 2016 Olympics!!
In Art we designed and made our own amazing African Masks, linked to our work on South Africa. During the Commonwealth Games Day we revisited our topic 'South Africa'. It was a great day!
During SATs week, Mandela class made the most of Mrs Matthews' new cricket teaching knowledge by learning some new skills and playing games of Continuous Cricket. It was a chance to chill out between tests and revision sessions and enjoy our lovely field! We know that exercising helps us learn more effectively, so each day during the week we had PE :-) Last week we went on a visit to the Tide Mill in Woodbridge, which linked to our topic on Coasts. We spent the morning in the Tide Mill's Living Museum finding out about how the Tide Mill actually works and the history of milling and the Tide Mill. During the afternoon we developed our artistic skills, sketching the local area. It was a very successful day and the weather was really good too.
