For the 3rd year running the children and staff at TSM have achieved the silver SportsMark. Something that many schools are striving to achieve. This year our target is Gold. Something last year we were so close in gaining. Operation gold starts today!
For the last 2 years a team of people have been working away planning a project, writing songs, writing drama, writing lesson & assembly plans.
Today 7th September the children were invited to take part in the project in an 'Everlasting Light' assembly. Everlasting Light is a fantastic opportunity for children in School years 3 – 6 (age 7-11) across Suffolk to get involved in making a difference to the lives of other people through this great project. The children will all be featured (and credited!) on a professionally recorded CD, a music DVD and be able to perform in a live concert at the Spa Pavilion in Felixstowe in December. The event is to help raise over £50,000 for water & sanitation projects with communities in South West Uganda through the charity Tearfund. There are 60 schools taking part and we are one of them. A leaflet with full details about the event went out today. You can even start learning the songs by heading off to the website. www.everlastinglight.org.uk ![]() So today in assembly, Mrs Ross decided to share yet another one of her famous 'This is what happened to me at school' stories. Leading to a KS2 challenge. In short, after practising for hours in front of my mirror with a hair brush, I was ready for my big moment and I would be preforming in front of the school select community for a very sort after place in the school choir. With everything I had practised, I gave it my all! Only to get the school 'Simon Cowell' to say I hadn't got a place. Even with this disappointment I never gave up my ambition to sing in front of an audience. (Even if badly). With this in mind I have set the challenge of finding a new school anthem. A song that I and the whole school can learn and one that gives me the chance to sing in front of my school audience. (Those in assembly). ![]() Deadline for suggestions is Friday 30th September. Rules:
Year 6's journey at this school now comes to an end. It has been great seeing the children mature over the last few years. They are certainly ready for a new challenge. They will no doubt be upset to leave Trimley St Martin but after a few days at their new schools in September they'll be too excited too be upset any longer. Thank you for your hard work Year 6, especially this year with the new tougher SATs tests, thank you for looking after each other and looking out for each other. Trimley St Martin will miss you! |
