Despite the rain, we had an amazing time at Colchester zoo. We learnt about African animals and their habitats.
We used cardboard and elastic bands to make stencils. We then printed using them. The results were beautiful!
In art we used brusho inks to dye fabric. We will be used these as the background for some printing and drawings. I apologise for the dyed hands! The dye comes off after a bath.
We are so lucky Landon's Mummy gave us some stick insects from her university. Miss Winton helped us to hold them as Miss Thurlow wasn't that brave! We are going to have a competition to name them. We are making sure we take good care of them. Year 1 helped Miss Winton to make their tank safe and homely.
In English we have been writing poems related to fireworks.
Today we turned out poems into beautiful fireworks! In our SPaG lesson today we explored contracted words. We had to think about what the words could be shortened to and which letters we needed to remove. We then added an apostrophe to show the missing letter.
Thank you to the parents who joined for our maths afternoon. We hope you find the maths resources we made useful.
We made: counting sticks paper chain number bonds times table sliders place value sliders maths questioning games We have been so lucky today, we met with a lady from the circus and learnt some super circus skills. We had a lovely afternoon exploring Trimley St Martin. We looked for different objects and discussed which material they were made from and why it was a suitable material. Thank you to all the adults for their help :)
