This morning in our maths we were looking at length and height.....but we didn't use a ruler or metre stick....we used just our eyes!
We started the lesson by measuring some of our heights against each other to see who was taller or shorter. We then went around the classroom and activity area to pick different items to measure against each other and wrote down which item was longer/shorter or the same as each time. Super measuring Year 2! In our literacy this morning, we have been writing ‘Rainbow’ poems. Fantastic creative and imaginative skills Year 2!
In our maths lesson today, we were filling different sort of containers and cooking equipment with water, and then pouring it back into a measuring jug to ‘test’ if the containers held the amount of milliliters that was written on them!
We had lots of fun....and some of us got a bit wet! This afternoon in our Art lesson we were looking at the work of the Painter and Artist Anthony Frost. Anthony Frost is known for his abstract work which consists of brightly coloured prints and collages.
nspired by his work, we created our own collages using ripped up pieces of brightly coloured paper and sticking them down so that the colours overlapped. We really enjoyed creating our own brightly coloured abstract pieces or art work and the classroom was a sea of colour! These are going to look fantastic up on display! Super work Year 2! In our maths lesson this morning, we have worked together to measure capacity. We poured some water from a jug into a tall container, measuring out a different amount of millilitres each time.
Celebrating 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II on the throne TSM will be holding their own street party and activities on Wednesday 8th June.

We are all SO SO proud of the children and the hard work they have put in this week! As I said earlier on in the week- they took it all in their stride and any worries they had at the beginning of the week soon disappeared when they realised they had done it all before with the practise papers. On Friday morning when we had finished our last Maths paper...and a yummy piece of chocolate cake- we gave a big cheer that we had done it! FANTASTIC work Year 2! x Today in our Literacy we were recapping Nouns. We learnt that a noun is a person, place or thing.
Firstly, we wrote down some examples of each on our whiteboards before going on a 'Noun Hunt' around the school. On the noun hunt, we wrote down people we saw, such as Mrs Goodhand and Mrs Lawrence, we wrote down places we walked past on went into, such as the toilets, the hall, classrooms and the staff room. We also wrote down things we saw such as chairs, books, the piano and the photocopier. I wonder how many nouns the children can spot at home?! Great noun spotting Year 2! This afternoon in our art lesson, we continued looking at the work and styles of the artist Kandinsky. We learnt how he used differnent lines and patterns in his work using different media.
So we had our own go at using differnt medias. First of all we used crayon to draw a mix of handwriting patterns and swirly patterns. Then, we very carelfully traced over the lines and patterns we had made with paint. We were encouraged to take our time to concentrate on carefully tracing over and following the patterns with our paintbrush. Many of us found this quite relaxing! One our creations are dry we will put them up on display. |
