This half term our DT project has been testing different ways of fixing fabric including sewing. The children practiced their running stitch before designing their own finger puppets and making these using the running stitch they had learnt. Good use of these learning gems

To complete our topic of the Great Fire of London the children have been busy making houses from 1666, sang a song all about the Great Fire of London and had a visit from the fire brigade. Good use of these learning gems
We had an amazing time at Colchester Zoo this week when we visited for the day. We saw many of the different animals at the zoo and we were met by an elf called Noel who took us on a penguin experience. We also met a special person at the zoo - Father Christmas!!! Good use of these learning gems

Today we celebrated National Poetry Day by learning a poem about pirates and performing it to the rest of the class. Good use of these learning gems
This term we are learning about different materials, their properties and the different uses of them. This week we tested various materials - paper, card, fabric, plastic tablecloth and kitchen roll outside in the playground with tubes of water to see which materials were waterproof and learnt about the inventor Charles Macintosh. Today we celebrated Roald Dahl day by reading some of 'Charlie and the chocolate factory'. We found out about the chocolate factory and then designed our own chocolate/sweet factories. Good use of these learning gems
