We are continuing our topic on ourselves and are beginning to learn about our 5 senses. Last week we explored our sense of smell. We had 5 smell pots, we had to guess the smell and decided whether we liked the smell or not. There were some funny faces. We have also started to listen to and learn a 5 senses song. Take a listen! | |

In Science this half term we are learning about our bodies. We have been thinking about the different parts of the body and whats underneath our skin. We labelled a picture today and make dog bone skeletons. We even watched Funny-bones! In the weeks to come we will be thinking about our 5 senses so keep an eye out for more pictures!

A warm welcome to all of the Parents & Children! We have had a great start to the new term and we have been amazed by the children. They have all been polite, hard workers. We have been settling into Year 1 by thinking about the class rules, our presentation and our MacArthur class values. Take a look at our new display below.
If you can please come along to our Meet the Teacher on Tuesday 11th at 3.30pm. We hope you child has enjoyed their first few days as much as we have! Today Year 1 along with the rest of the school went outside to take part in Outdoor Classroom Day.
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global campaign to inspire and celebrate outdoor learning and play. The campaign days act as a catalyst for more time outdoors every day, both at school and beyond. Learning and playing alongside Year 2, we became outside artists. We painted stones, made stick men and pictures using natural materials. Today was Mrs Matthews' Reading Raffle assembly - there are many books to win, if you read 5 times a week! Our Y1 winner was very pleased with her choice.
MacArthur had a fantastic visit to Bressingham steam museum. After an eventful start involving a broken down bus, we had a brilliant day. There were a number of trains to ride on and lots of different things to see. The trains were very bumpy and chilly - not at all like the trains we ride on today! We saw a Royal carriage complete with bedroom and bathroom, lots of steam machines and even got to go in an original Victorian signal box! There were lots of museums to visit as well, full of exciting things to look at! However, MacArthur's favourite part of the day was the Victorian Galloper. Made in 1897 and recently restored, it was lovely to see the enjoyment toys from the Victorian era can still provide. A big THANK YOU to the parents who helped out on our trip! For some of us, the excitement of the day was just too much!
