What a busy day we have had in Year 2 today! In our literacy, we have been looking at 'Concrete Nouns' and 'Proper Nouns'. Yesterday we learnt that a concrete noun is a person, place or thing, such as 'girl', 'ball' and 'film'. Today, we learnt that a proper noun is still a person, place or thing, but they are more specific, giving more information. For example 'Amy', 'Felixstowe beach' and 'Toy Story'. Our task today was to sort both concrete and proper nouns into their correct categories. We firstly had to find the written nouns posted up around the classroom. We then had to decide if we had found a concrete noun or a proper noun, and stick it onto the corresponding whiteboard. Take a look at our work....

This morning, Nightingale class had our second session in the Wildwood on the field.
We took part in bug hunting, digging with spades, creating 'stick dens' hammock swinging and making 'chocolate soup' in the mud kitchen. Some of us also helped Mr Childs clean out the chicken shed......alot of us did not like the smell!! We had another great morning and some of us got rather muddy...including Mrs Tubby! Thank you Mr Childs This morning saw our first session in the Wildwood with Mr Childs.
We had great fun den building, bug hunting, digging, raking, swinging on hammocks, con-concocting recipes in the mud kitchen and holding the chickens and collecting their eggs. We can't wait until next weeks session! Thank you Mr Childs! We have had a great first 2 days settling in to Nightingale Class. The children have adapted very quickly to the 'new normal' school day and have jumped right back into their learning. As mentioned in the Seesaw post, I have been super impressed with how well mannered they have all been - Keep it up Nightingale Class!
In our Literacy lesson today, we were looking at punctuation and where full stops should go. We were given large pieces of sugar paper with sentences written on with the full stops missing and some balloons. We had to read through the sentences and mark where the full stops should go by attaching the balloons. Take a look at our great work..... The Classroom is all set up and ready for your return!
Ms Boggis and I look forward to welcoming you back tomorrow! Take a look at what our classroom looks like..... Well done to our 2 very worthy class winners for the 'Class Values' award and the 'Progress' award. Both great achievements!
So this week saw Year 2's last full week of home learning! Lock down or not my time with them seems to have flown by but we have had some great times together! Although I must say I do feel a little sad that I did not get to spend these past few months with them - it is often towards the end of the school year that we realise just how far they have come.
This week, the children have been busy as usual with their maths, literacy and phonics, but they have also been carrying out science experiments, carrying out some History research into who 'Lincoln' was and what he did and remembering some of their favourite memories they have had in Year 2. Well done class Lincoln! Again, we have had another successful week of home learning and I have been so impressed at the pictures, videos and messages the children have been uploading of their work. I cant believe next week is the last full week of 'school'.
This week has seen some great math's and literacy work, some fab phonics and some interesting science experiments! I have also read and listened to some great versions of 'We're going on a Bear Hunt'...in some cases it became a Monster hunt and even an Easter egg hunt! Well done Lincoln class, you are continuing to make me super proud! As we move into July and what would be the last few weeks of school.....the fantastic learning from Lincoln class continues and the children are still full of enthusiasm!
This week, there has been lots of maths, literacy and phonics work and some beautiful and very successful science experiment in the form of making rainbows! There has also been lots of photos of the children completing there task - to help water the plants....and in some cases the windows!! I still continue to be very proud of the children for all the hard work they are doing through these strange times! Well done Lincoln class, you should be proud of yourselves too! Have a great weekend everyone! |
