After another fab day at forest schools (blog post to follow) it seems lots of the class have a lot of bites. There were a lot of bugs in the forest and I apologise for the bites.
If you would like to bring cream or medicine into school to soothe the bites then please do. I would advise getting some bug repellant spray for next session or using a suncream with bug repellant in it (I will buy some too!). I am sorry again. Hopefully everyone will be feeling less itchy soon! Kind regards Miss Thurlow We had an amazing afternoon at Ipswich girls school. We introduced ourselves and learnt the important rules for whilst we are in the forest. We played some introduction games where we learnt the boundaries for where we could play in the forest. Then we were allowed to explore the area, there was a range of activities: den building tree climbing bug hunts We also had hot chocolate AND biscuits!! We played another game where we had to listen very carefully to find who had the toy bird behind their back. It was so much fun and we can't wait for next week. In Maths today we were chuffed because we got to use playdough and straws to make a variety of polygons.
We had to remember the names of different 2D shapes and be able to tell the adult if they were regular or irregular. We were very good at this! :) The SATs are over!
I am so incredibly proud of each of the children in Year 2 for their hard work and determination during these tests. The children were not told that they were doing "the SATs" just more "special booklets" but they were amazing. We will be having a whole day of History in preparation for our mini fair tomorrow afternoon. We hope to see you there! Enjoy the beautiful weather! :) From Miss Thurlow We took our art work outside today as it was so lovely outside!
We drew onto our fabric with oil pastels then painted or dyed our designs. The results were stunning! The children have been given sunflower seeds to grow as part of our Science topic. There will be letters to follow but unfortunately our photocopier isn't working today! I will hopefully send the letters which explain what to do on Monday.
Kind regards, Miss Thurlow In History we have been exploring different fairs, festivals and celebrations from the past. This week we looked at Scotland's Highland games.
We had a try at some Highland dancing and tried out some of the Highland game events like the caber tossing and putting the stone. We realised they were much harder than they looked. We event had a go at tug of war but we were all so strong the rope broke (twice!!) In art this term we are creating textile prints.
We made some tie dye patterns as the base for our art work. We really enjoyed this messy project and it was even better as we didn't have to clear up the mess!!! Our fabric designs look really beautiful! Yesterday we said goodbye to our wonderful helper Zoe :(
Zoe has been helping in Year 2 for the past two years. We are really going to miss Zoe but wish her all the best with her new job. Love from Miss Thurlow and Year 2 xxx |
