We have really enjoyed our min garden projects in science. Here they are finished and now home for you to enjoy and carry on with :)
So we have started our science project on planting. We have planted some broad beans in clear cups to see the root sprouting and the plant growing through the compost. We have also started our own min gardens, so far we have planted some cress, nasturtiums and marigolds. Today we added some of our own things from home. Keep watching to see them grow.
One of the types of writing we have been doing in year 2 is persuasive writing. To link this with our literacy we had to either write a persuasive argument to ask Mr Stock if we could have a pet dragon or one to persuade him not to give us a pet dragon. We then invited him to listen to some of our speeches and then asked him to make a decision. Sadly he was persuaded (although only just as there were some good arguments) not to get us a pet dragon. However, he did like the idea of it heating the swimming pool and saving him money :)
We had a wonderful art day with lots of different types of art. We studied the artist Wassily Kandinsky who did some very abstract art with shapes and colours and loved listening to music. We loved having some of our family come in to do art with us. The class produced some amazing art! and learnt that EVERYBODY can do art,
In science we did a paper experiment in groups. Looking at different types of paper and which one absorbs water best. We had some very interesting results, and lots of fun too.
